Smart Sorting Trash Can

The Smart Sorting Trash Can automatically identifies discarded items and directs them into the correct waste or recycling compartment. The system uses a trained machine-learning image classification model, control software, and integrated hardware to determine how each item should be sorted. The team designed the physical structure using CAD and developed the electrical and mechanical systems required to operate the sorting mechanism. The project also incorporates a disinfectant spray and explores odor-control methods to improve cleanliness and practicality. By reducing recycling contamination, the system aims to make waste disposal more accurate and efficient.

Solar Panel Tracking System

This project is an Arduino-based solar tracking system designed to improve the amount of sunlight received by a solar panel. The system uses the I2C communication protocol to connect the microcontroller to peripheral devices, including an LCD screen, a real-time clock module, and a current sensor. A solar detection algorithm was written in C++ to determine the panel's optimal position based on sensor measurements. The mechanical system uses two 180-degree servo motors to rotate the solar panel along two axes. A custom casing and gear system was designed to support and control the panel's movement.

Brewista: Customizable Drink Maker

Brewista is an automated drink-making machine that allows users to customize beverages with the press of a button. An Arduino and motor shield control peristaltic pumps that precisely dispense ingredients from four separate reservoirs. The software stores and adjusts ingredient ratios so users can personalize drinks such as Shirley Temples and mango cream sodas. A custom plywood frame and internal mounting system keep the reservoirs, pumps, and electronic components secure and accessible. The project combines mechanical, electrical, and software systems to create an approachable and reliable drink-making experience.

(SEMS) Smart Enviromental Monitoring System

The main objective of this project is to create a device that analyzes different characteristics of the environment surrounding it and can be used in many different applications. Customers of various needs can benefit from this product because of all of the different sensors, which detect air quality, light intensity, temperature, and radiation levels.

(CHESSTER) AI-Based Chessboard

The purpose of the project is to build a physical alternative to online chess programs such as chess com. This provides a fun and unique experience to chess players that cannot be experienced on a computer. While playing, Chesster assists players by using AI to predict the next-best move, and lighting up the respective square. This square will flash green light until a chesspiece is moved on top; if the player moves the piece to a different position, the square will flash red until this error is fixed.

Alpha Epsilon

Multi-Purpose LED Gameboard

This project merges classic games like Snake, Tic-Tac-Toe, Connect 4, and Battleship with modern technology, enabling play against AI, solo, or with others. It features a game board with a 3D-printed plastic shell and a wooden base, equipped with LEDs, circuits, and ten navigation buttons. An Arduino controls the game board, while a Raspberry Pi runs a custom GUI on a touchscreen, allowing for game selection. This integration of game design, mechanical, and electrical engineering offers a novel gaming experience.

Alpha Delta

LED Game Table

The purpose of the modular table is to create an exciting alternative to what can become an easily redundant form of entertainment, providing a variety of engaging games that will create a genuinely enjoyable and unique experience for Theta Tau brothers.
